Lucknow, July 4: In view of possibility of trouble from the supporters of Maulana Salman Hussaini Nadvi during the executive committee meeting of All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) at Nadvatul Ulema Lucknow on July 15, the board has shifted the venue to Delhi. The board general secretary Maulana Mohd Wali Rahmani in a communication to the executive committee members said that the venue was being shifted from Lucknow to Delhi because of “unavoidable circumstances”.

The board last month had announced to hold the executive committee meeting at Nadva. However immediately after the announcement of the date and venue large numbers of supporters and students of Maulana Salman Hussaini Nadvi, who was expelled from the board at its meeting in February in Hyderabad, reportedly started mobilisation people to ban entry of MIM chief Asaduddin Owasi, and two other members Kamal Farooqi and Qasim Rasool Ilyas into Nadva, as they had spoken against Salman Nadvi at Hyderabad meeting.

Thus according to sources apprehending the trouble during the meeting at Nadva the board chairman Maulana Rabe Hasni Nadvi today decided to shift the venue Delhi. However senior members Zafaryab Jilani and Khalid Rashid Firangi Mahli told Urban Mirror that the decision to change venue was taken because some members had desired to shift to Delhi. Khalid Rashid said “Salman Nadvi issue is not behind the change of venue”.
Salman Nadvi, who is a senior faculty member in Nadva, has large following in the institution. The board had decided to sack him for his meeting with Sri Sri Ravi Shankar along with a delegation to discuss out of court settlement of the vexed Babri Masjid-Ram Temple issue. The board taking his meeting with Sri Sri in Bangalore just before the Hyderabad conference seriously decided to sack him. Sources said during the whole exercise Kamal Farooqi and Ilyasi were quite vocal against him. Salman Nadvi had also spoken against Owaisi in Hyderabad. After dismissal from the board Salman Nadvi had floated inter-religious Manav Kalyan Manch to solve the Ayodhya issue amicably. The Delhi meeting is scheduled to discuss Babri Masjid case pending in the supreme Court and also some other issues which were discussed at Hyderabad as a follow up.
