Lucknow, February 08: The Lok Gathbandhan Party today dubbed the Uttar Pradesh annual budget for 2019-20 as directionless and misleading. The LGP said with UP facing major resource crunch the state government’s budgetary announcements are bound to face hurdles in the implementation. The LGP said these announcements are not more than election-targeted directionless measures to keep the people in good humour in the run up to the general elections.
The spokesman of the LGP, headed by former Secretary Government of India Vijay Shankar Pandey, said here on Friday that these measures are also completely bereft of clarity and commitment. The spokesman said allocation of Rs 622 crore for the bovine (stray animal) protection, which has become big menace in both rural and urban areas could not help solve the crisis. The spokesman said villagers have turned extremely hostile to the BJP government over the damages being caused to their crops by these stray animals.
The spokesman said that over the years the budgetary deficit has been widening and successive governments never made sincere efforts to bridge the gap to improve the fiscal health of the government. The spokesman said the rural areas are passing through immense infrastructural crises but the budget lacked focused efforts to solve them. The spokesman said the budget is also silent on how the government is going to alleviate suffering of the farmers who have been facing massive problems because of sharp fall in the prices of their products. Pointing out that there is major thrust on urban centric projects, the spokesman said the government has ignored the requirements of the farmers. The spokesman said the BJP government has also skipped the issue of creating 70 lakh employment slots in next five years, as the budgetary announcements don’t co-relate with promises made during 2017 assembly election. The spokesman said the government has been making tall claims to give push to infrastructural and industrial development but in the absence of improved law and order/crime situation, adequate power supply, basic facilities, corruption-free governance and transparency, the state will not achieve the desired target.
The spokesman said LGP is committed to balanced growth in both urban and rural areas for which it has chalked out a detailed action plan. The spokesman said there is no paucity of funds for development but it required honest, transparent and committed and absolutely corruption-free official machinery to implement people’s oriented developmental plans.
