New Delhi, March 01: The Lok Gathbandhan Party (LGP) today slammed the NDA government for miserably failing to perform on economic front as the data released by Central Statistic Office (CSO) has amply indicated that the country’s economy has lost momentum ahead of general elections. The LGP said the Indian economy had decelerated at a faster pace than anticipated in the December quarter of 2018-19 to 6.6%.
The spokesman of the party said here on Friday that despite tall claims the NDA government stands exposed and the poor people are suffering because of its non-performance in this connection. The spokesman said the CSO has revised downward its full-year growth forecast for the current fiscal to 7% from 7.2% estimated earlier. The spokesman said it is for this reason the BJP has been desperately trying to change the political narratives in the run up to the election. The spokesman said while the slowdown in the second half (October-March) of this financial year was expected CSO has now estimated it to be sharper that it earlier estimated. Pointing out that growth slow down is matter of concern as its connection to the slowdown in job creation has caused consternation among youth and in order to contain damage the BJP has become jingoistic on other emotive issues, the spokesman said, adding that people are unlikely to misled by such gimmicks.
The spokesman said since the NDA has nothing positive to tell, it is raking up this issue to divert the attention of the people. The spokesman that NDA’s story of crony capitalism is of utter failure on economic front as the country has been passing through massive crisis, so there are desperate efforts to push people’s issues under the carpet. The spokesman said BJP leaders are maintaining stoic silence on the performance. Calling upon the people to be vigilant of the machination of the BJP, the spokesman said it is high time to evaluate the pro-poor performance of the NDA government and not sway away by just baseless slogans and fake claims. The spokesman said five-year India’s economic growth story has been miserable, as it has not positively impacted the people across the social spectrum and across the country. The spokesman said the people should realise that bad economy is NDA’s Achilles Heel, hence the move to shift focus.
