UP govt development plans lopsided: Lok Gathbandhan Party

Urban Mirror Correspondent
Lucknow, February 18: The Lok Gathbandhan Party (LGP) said that the UP BJP government, despite poor performance during the last two years, has been making misplaced development claims and becoming hype over “ground-breaking” ceremonies. The LGP said that now the government has planned second “ground breaking” function in last week of February in Kanpur to be addressed by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The spokesman of the LGP said here on Monday that after February 2018 investors summit in Lucknow there has hardly been any visible progress on the ground but the government organised first ground breaking function in August 2018 and now second one is scheduled in Kanpur. Calling that these conclaves are not more than election stunt, the spokesman said the BJP government has got its priorities all wrong as the state required major thrust in rural areas which are in dire distress. The spokesman said the government’s “one district one product” (ODOP) project has also failed to take off.

The spokesman said rot set into the system with massive corruption, lack of honesty and transparency urgently required to corrective measures without which nothing would be possible in the state. Pointing out that the BJP government has no plan for elimination of corruption, the spokesman said just sloganeering on the issue would not solve the crisis. The spokesman said the investors would come for themselves if there is transparency and corruption-free good governance. The spokesman said over the decades successive ruling parties have just looted the state and there is no change in the situation even now as reports coming from all over the state indicated increase in corruption. The LGP said the developmental activities have come standstill and there is no let up in crime.

The spokesman said except government-sponsored publicity stunt and misleading claims, the ground realities are different, which would surely reflect in 2019 Lok Sabha election. The spokesman recalled that at investors summit the government had claimed commitment of Rs four lakh crore private and public sector investment but so far there has been no further development. The spokesman said with the people growing disenchanted with the state government’s two-year performance, efforts are on to divert their attention. Laying stress on controlling worsening law and order situation, the spokesman, said without changing the people’s perception in this connection nothing substantial could be achieved on development front.
