Lok Gathbandhan Party holds NDA govt responsible for escape of Mallya, others

New Delhi, September 13: The Lok Gathbandhan Party (LGP) today said, irrespective of denial by the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely about his meeting with fugitive Kingfisher owner Vijay Mallya before he escaped from country, the NDA government has done nothing to scuttle his plan to leave after committing huge bank fraud. The LGP said similar was the case with two most wanted financial criminals- Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi who after looting Punjab National Bank for Rs 13000 crore are now staying in London and Antigua and their extradition also appeared to difficult.
Pointing out that the escape was not possible without political patronage the spokesman of the party said here on Thursday that a piquant situation is prevailing in the country about banks fraud with NDA government failing to contain the drift. The spokesman said just denial of Arun Jaitely about his meeting with Mallya is not enough and doesnot clear the dust as the country wanted to know the action taken by the government about the arrest of these looters. The spokesman said the government must explain why Mallya and others were allowed to leave the country and the political complicity in their flight could not be ruled out.

The spokesman said while Mallya’s case is caught in legal wrangle in London, the two other criminals have also followed the same route to escape their arrest. The spokesman said it was shocking that Indian investigating agencies have provided the video of prison to UK Court where Mallya could to be lodged. Whether this is done for other criminals in the country, the spokesman asked. The spokesman said it is also strange that despite Interpol alert Nirav Modi and Choksi are roaming around the world and doing business which indicated that the CBI and enforcement directorate are either helpless or politically under pressure to go slow in the case to fade the issue from the memory of the people, as has happened in the past in such corruption issues. The spokesman said the NDA government has passed the Fugitive Economic Offenders Bill to empower probe agencies but it has not helped in any way. The spokesman said the law is more a political propaganda than a tool for action scam accused.
