Lucknow, May 08: The three-member mediation panel constituted by the Supreme Court to find amicable and negotiated solution to the vexed Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Majid issue is likely to seek more time to submit its report to the apex court. The court had given two months’ time to the panel to talk to all concerned parties and submit the report. However in view of commencement of Ramazan from May 7 the negotiation is likely to be delayed. It is learnt that members of Babri Mosque side have informed the panel in this connection. But there is differing views in Ram Janma Bhoomi Nyas and Nirmohi Akhara over the extension issue. While Nyas is opposed to any extension, Akhara reportedly doesnot have any objection.
The apex court had appointed three-member panel on March 8 to hold dialogue with concerned parties and submit report within two months Three-member mediation committee is headed by Justice (retired) FM Ibrahim Kalifulla and comprising senior advocate Sriram Panchu and Sri Sri Ravi Shankar as its members The panel held its first meeting with litigants in Faizabad on March 13. According to information more than 50 people, including legal representatives of parties to the dispute, attended the first meeting. In view of this the panel, the deadline of which comes to an end on May 13 (going by its first meeting), is expected to seek more time from the SC to submit its report. Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, head of the Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas, said: “We are against any extension of tenure to the Supreme Court’s panel. All efforts have already been made to resolve the dispute through mediation,”
